8U Division (Ages 6-8)
Welcome to Lacrosse!
The 8U division is all about introducing young players to the fundamentals of lacrosse in a fun, supportive environment. At this age, the focus is on building basic skills and fostering a love for the game.
What Parents Should Expect
- Skill Development: Players will learn basic catching, throwing, scooping, and cradling techniques
- Game Understanding: Introduction to field positioning and simple game concepts
- Modified Rules: Smaller fields, no body checking, and emphasis on participation over competition
- Social Skills: Learning to work as part of a team and developing sportsmanship
- Attention Span: Practices are shorter and incorporate games to maintain engagement
Developmental Goals
By the end of the 8U season, players should be comfortable holding a stick, throwing and catching with a partner, and understanding basic field positions. Most importantly, they should be excited to come back next season!
